About UGC NET June 2024 Examination
The University Grants Commission-National Eligibility Test (UGC NET) is a national-level exam conducted by the National Testing Agency (NTA) to determine the eligibility of Indian nationals for the posts of Assistant Professor and for Junior Research Fellowship and Assistant Professor in Indian universities and colleges. Candidates who qualify for the Junior Research Fellowship are also eligible to pursue research in their respective postgraduate subjects and are eligible for Assistant Professor jobs. In addition to the above, candidates who wish to apply for the National Fellowship for Scheduled Caste Students (NFSC), National Fellowship for Other Backward Classes (NFOBC), and Maulana Azad National Fellowship for Minority Students (MANF) must also apply and qualify in the UGC NET exam. These fellowships are awarded by the Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment and the Ministry of Minority Affairs to students from these communities who wish to pursue higher education and research.
The NTA has been entrusted by the University Grants Commission (UGC) with the task of conducting UGC-NET, which is a test to determine the eligibility of Indian nationals for ‘award of Junior Research Fellowship and appointment as Assistant Professor’, ‘appointment as Assistant Professor and admission to Ph.D.’ and ‘admission to Ph.D. only’ in Indian universities and colleges.
